At the Equator
Saturday, 16 January 2010 19:33
Wendy arrived in Quito with her small gear bag and 2 moto tires! After a night of city sounds - traffic, horns and sirens, we were greeted with a sunny day and enjoyed breakfast on the patio of our little hotel. We crossed the equator on the way to an outdoor market which fills the town square of Otavalo and spills into the side streets. Vendors sell everything imaginable from whole pigs to alpaca sweaters to necklaces of glass beads filled with gold. Ecaudorian women wear multiple strands of the golden beads - more strands indicate greater wealth. We're off early tomorrow for a week on a boat in the Galapagos Islands!

Hey Wendy,
Glad to see you made it! Soak up some sun for all of us here back home!
