To Oaxaca

With only 2 days of Spanish lessons remaining, I’m going to try to and get caught up a bit before heading to Guatemala. Puerto Escondido looked like it would have been a sleepy little fishing village at one time. Now, there’s a large tourist section down by the bay. Still, it was a nice place to stop for the night on my way to Oaxaca.

Puerto Escondido

I posted a video for the road to Oaxaca, but this is one of the valleys you ride through.

Along the way, you ride through many mountain villages

Mountain Pueblo

Oaxaca is a city I could have easily spent a week in, as there are so many things to see and do.

The first day, I spent in El Centro checking out the marcado and iglesias (churches).

Santo Domingo

Catherdral in Oaxaca

Chocolate mills

Oaxaca mercado

Fried grasshoppers

Dried chiles

As well as the people and venders

Then off the ruins of Monte Alban and Mitla…..
