The Road to Oaxaca

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

I’m currently immerged in a Spanish class for the next two weeks at San Cristobal de la Casas. Hopefully when I leave I’ll be able to say more than, “una mas ceveza”.

I’ve starting to realize that roads which cross mountains in Mexico are very good roads for motos. They’re so good that I don’t stop for to take pictures because I’m having too much fun. I’d say the roads here beat the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap all to hell.

A few days back when I was leaving Escondido I decided to break out the video camera and mount it to the bike with the idea that at a minimum, I’d be able to capture something of these awesome roads. Having not done any video work I hope this one doesn’t bore you. I tried to show a bit of the road between Escondido and Oaxaca. If you want the full effect the just keep playing it for a little over an hour as the twisties didn’t change much in that time.

Love this video & your trip reporting. I check in almost daily & I'm getting my winter no-riding vicarious fixes in through you.

  • RTM

Yeah, now it is part of the daily routine to check for updates.
I am actually thinking about getting my gear ready for riding during the winter. Will see how much fun that will be...

    Yo Jeff,

That's a great video, bloody ass speed bumps suck! I check your site daily.

What kind of video camera do you have?

And you thought I was joking about how your Spanish was! If you are going to Brazil you'll have to brush up on your Portugese...

    Hey Nick,

It's a V.I.O. POV 1.5 helmet cam. I'm got it mounted on the bike for now.
