The ride to Zihuatanejo is fabulous along the coastal road MX 200.

Saw my first Tarantulas on the road today and let me tell you, these guys are big. Whipped the Beast around and grabbed my camera and rode back to look for the last one I passed, but nothing.  A few cars had passed me, so maybe the tarantula got a ride on one of the tires. I started thinking if you ran over one, what would happen if you didn’t kill it, but simply lifted it someplace on the bike…..nope, I’m going to try missing them if I can.

Again, I find myself sweating profusely while I moto around downtown  Zihuatanejo, or Zihau as the local xpats like to call it, looking for Angela’s Hotel, my first choice.

OK, off to the second, Villas Mercedes.

Villas Mercedes

Nice place. Almost like a private home as most of the time there's no staff around. They give you a set of keys for almost every lock in the place and say "have a nice stay"... cool!

At this point, my stomach is growling, so I abandon my “arrival” routine and head downtown for this:

Enchilada Mole
Zihuatanejo was and still is a fishing village. There is tourism, but it’s not as developed as other coastal communities.

Zihua Fishing Fleet

Zihua Fish Market

Zihua Beachfront

Zihua Fisherman

Zihua Net Fisherman
There’s also a bike presence.

Just how many miles do they get out of the front tire?
