Puerto Natales

I booked a bed on the ferry from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt, so after two days in Punta Arenas, it was off to Puerto Natales. The ferry is run by Navimag and takes 4 days for the journey which runs up the Patagonia coast. I’m looking forward to seeing that side of Patagonia...and not having to ride the Beast to do it!

.

Just before Puerto Natales, I ran into a bunch of roadside shrines

First time I’ve seen a figure of Difunta Correa mixed in with the bottles

Puerto Natales was a fishing village until the trekking crowd turned it into one of the destination locations in Chile. From here, all you can get to is Torres Del Paine and other national parks. I found it a good place to sit for a few days (this is the low season so no trekking crowd) and wait on the ferry.

This town had a bunch of murals too

And the best place for beer since Cusco, the Baguales brew pub. A guy from San Diego started it this year – good beer and great burgers.
