Adventure POI is up and running

So what is Adventure POI?
First, we should ask what is a POI?
In GPS talk, POI is an acronym for Point of Interest. Sometimes these can be called waypoints, but the basic idea is that a POI is a location that you would be interested in visiting. For example, a secluded beach hotel or a great place to grab a bite to eat.
OK, so now, what is Adventure POI?
Adventure POI is an online searchable list of POIs that you can view, learn about, explore with Google Maps, or rate and review. You can even add your own POIs to the list and help it grow! Adventure POI is a collection of interesting places to visit and enjoy on your adventure. So, download the GPX file and load the POIs on your GPS and then get out of here an go riding.
Why would Adventure POI be on Moto-Treks?
While planning my motorcycle trip to South America, I started reading travel books and trip reports and had started taking notes (sometimes) on my computer of places I wanted to visit. If I was at home I’d stick a pin on the wall map in my office. Later, when staring at the map, I’d see a pin but couldn’t remember why it was there. Searching for the file on the computer didn’t work because I have a few of them, and at times I couldn’t find the file; if in fact it ever existed. Damn, why can’t I just store this stuff on the web! That way I could collect the information for a POI, like phone numbers, web sites, GPS coordinate, etc. Wait a minute, I could and with that, Adventure POI was conceived.
I hope you find Adventure POI useful. I also hope you'll add your favorite hotels, restaurants, museums, or whatever you think would be a must see in North, Central, and South America.
