GPS Maps for Colombia and Peru
Tuesday, 25 August 2009 00:00
In my first article on GPS Maps of South America, I investigated the capabilities of different GPS maps for Chile and Argentina. I also compared the details and routing capabilities of all the maps I had found and was surprised to find that some of the free GPS maps have outstanding street level detail. I later looked into GPS Maps for Venezuela and located a great one from gpsyv.net.
Today I’m providing an update which will include GPS maps of Columbia and Peru.
For Columbia I’ve found a good routable map from Colrut.

The street level detail is the same (for some cities) as those maps reviewed previously.

Excellent street level detail at Bogota

Street level detail at Cali
For Peru I found a map of the complete country at Perut.

Again, the details are very good.

Southern Peru is partially covered in the map form ConoSur but the detail is not as complete as the Perut map.

Street level detail with ConoSur mapset

Street level detail with Perut mapset

Look at that detail with the Purut maps!
To douwnload the GPS maps I've found go to my maps link page.
I’m still looking for a good street level map of Ecuador. If I don’t find one, Smellybiker will cover the major roads and my paper maps from Omnimap will handle the details.
